Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for registered dental nurses who have already completed certified fluoride varnish training and require refresher training only.

This refresher training is designed for dental professionals who have already completed certified fluoride varnish competency training and would like to update and refresh their knowledge and confidence in applying fluoride varnish safely and effectively. This course is not a substitute for full competency training. Competence in fluoride varnish application is not achieved through a short or one-day course. It is developed over time through structured learning that includes both theoretical teaching and a record of supervised clinical competence. We recommend that initial training is completed with a nationally recognised and accredited organisation that provides certified competency programmes. Fluoride varnish is a prescription-only medicine. While safe when used appropriately, it can be toxic in high doses. It is therefore essential that anyone applying fluoride varnish has received proper training and can evidence their competence.

Stephanie is a registered dental hygienist and therapist and holds a Level 7 Qualification in Leadership and Management and a level 5 teaching diploma. She is a qualified assessor, internal moderator (quality assurance) and a qualified CPR and medical emergencies trainer. She is a passionate educator, a member of the faculty of dental trainers and has over 20 years experience in the dental industry.
